These charts give interested parties an easy way to compare three different independent estimates of video rental trends in the United States . Because Vidtrac, Video Store Magazine, and Video Business measure rental activity independently and using slightly different tools, anybody who uses information about the home video rental market can get a broader perspective by consulting all three. The three charts on the right show a quick and dirty graphical representation of aggregate video rental activity each week throughout the year as published by Video Store Magazine, Video Business, and Vidtrac. The Indexed Video Rental Trends chart compares indexed data from all three sources for the same time frame. Rather than plotting the absolute values for each source as is done on the other charts, the percentage change from the prior week is calculated. This relative value is plotted for all three sources based on the final week in 1998 having a value of 100. |
